Legal
Privacy Policy
Effective October 8, 2026
1. Who we are
This is the official website of Mike Rogers of Mobile, Alabama, author of My Town. It is operated by Advantage Media on his behalf. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Mike Rogers and Advantage Media.
This policy explains what information the site collects, why, and the choices you have.
2. Information you give us
When you use the form on the Contact page, we collect your name, your email address, and your message.
We use this only to reply to you. We do not run a mailing list, and sending a message does not sign you up for one.
3. Information collected automatically
Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical details of each visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure.
Cookies. The site sets a small number of first-party cookies: a session cookie, and three cookies our website builder uses to count visits and sessions. They do not identify you by name and are not used for advertising.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which parts of the site they use, such as clicks to buy the book and use of the contact form. Google Analytics sets its own cookies and receives your IP address, which it uses to estimate your general location. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
4. Third-party services and links
The site’s fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. Your browser contacts Google directly, so it receives your IP address.
The site links to other websites, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Target (to buy the book), podcast and news sites, YouTube, and documents hosted on Google Drive and Microsoft SharePoint. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.
5. How we use your information
We use the information described above to reply to your message, to operate and secure the site, and to understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising or any other purpose.
6. Who we share it with
Contact form messages are stored in the website’s database and emailed to Mike’s office so he can reply. People at Advantage Media who maintain the site can also see them.
We also rely on service providers who process information for us: our web host, the email service that delivers form messages, and Google Analytics. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
7. How long we keep it
We keep contact form messages for as long as we need them to reply to you and to keep a reasonable record of our correspondence. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.
8. Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Depending on where you live, for example California, the European Union, or the United Kingdom, you may have further rights under local law. We will respond to any request we receive.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work without them.
9. Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
10. Security
The site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top.
12. Contact
For any question or request about your information, write to us through the form on the Contact page.
